UAE Courier Address Requirements: DHL, FedEx, Aramex & More

For courier delivery in the UAE, provide a real physical address that clearly identifies the recipient and destination. This normally includes the recipient name, property or building, apartment or office where applicable, area or community, city or emirate, and a reachable mobile number.

Some courier and marketplace forms also display a ZIP or postal-code field. How that field should be handled depends on the service, so its presence does not automatically mean the UAE destination has a conventional postcode.

What Details Does a UAE Courier Address Need?

A useful courier address must identify the property, the final destination within that property where applicable, and the person or business receiving the shipment.

Address DetailWhat It Helps Identify
Recipient nameThe person or business receiving the shipment
Building, villa or propertyThe physical premises
Apartment, office or unitThe final destination inside the property
Street, area or communityThe surrounding location, where applicable
City or emirateThe wider UAE destination
Mobile numberA way to contact the recipient if clarification is needed
Map or location informationThe geographic position where supported
Postal-code fieldA service-specific field handled according to the carrier or platform

Different services divide this information differently. One form may provide separate fields for building, street, and unit, while another may combine several details into one address line.

The important point is that the actual destination information must remain accurate regardless of how the form is structured.

Courier-Ready UAE Address Template

A practical structure is:

Recipient Name
Apartment / Office / Unit, Building or Villa
Street / Area / Community, where applicable
City / Emirate
United Arab Emirates
Mobile Number
Additional location information, where requested

For an apartment delivery, the building identifies the property while the apartment number identifies the final destination inside it. Offices and shops follow the same principle.

For the complete order and formatting of UAE address elements, see the UAE address format guide.

Why UAE Postal-Code Fields Can Be Confusing on Courier Forms

A postal-code field can appear on a courier form even when the destination is handled differently from countries that use conventional postcodes.

The easiest way to understand the issue is to separate three things: the visible form, the carrier’s validation rules, and the information needed for delivery.

What the Form Displays

International shipping systems often use one interface across many countries.

A standard address form may contain:

  • street address;
  • city;
  • state or province;
  • ZIP or postal code;
  • country.

The form itself therefore does not establish whether a postcode applies to the selected UAE destination.

What the Carrier’s System Validates

Behind the form, the carrier can apply country-specific address rules.

A postal-code field might be:

  • required for one country;
  • optional for another;
  • validated differently after the destination is selected;
  • handled with a specific fallback in a non-postal destination.

Aramex provides a clear example. Its documented shipping-data model makes the postcode conditional and says it must be supplied where the relevant country and city have one.

This shows why the visible form and the underlying destination rules should not be treated as the same thing.

What the Courier Needs to Complete Delivery

Passing form validation does not necessarily mean the courier has enough information to find the recipient.

A usable delivery address still needs to identify the correct property, unit where applicable, recipient, and location.

A technically accepted address can therefore still cause problems if the building or unit is incomplete, while a detailed physical address may contain the necessary delivery information even when a global system still presents a postal-code field.

The three layers are related, but they are different:

Form field, country-specific validation, and final-mile delivery.

UAE Courier and Marketplace Address Requirements Compared

DHL, FedEx, Aramex, Noon, and Amazon.ae should not be treated as though one postal-code instruction applies to all of them.

Evidence checked: 29 August 2026.

ServiceDelivery TypeWhat Current Evidence ShowsAddress ApproachEvidence Status
DHLInternational courierDHL explicitly lists the UAE as a country with no postal codeCountry-specific shipment validationUAE-specific first-party evidence
FedExInternational courierFedEx supports non-postal-aware countries and documents 00000 as a fallback for certain validation errorsPhysical address with country-aware postal validationFirst-party non-postal-country guidance

NoonMarketplace deliveryPublic guidance starts with map selection and then requests full address and contact informationMap-first delivery-address workflowCurrent first-party workflow
Amazon.aeMarketplace deliveryNo universal UAE postcode-placeholder rule is clearly documented in current public buyer guidanceFollow the live address and checkout validationLive verification required

The evidence levels matter. DHL gives us a UAE-specific rule, while FedEx documents a broader rule for countries that do not use postal codes. Aramex documents how its shipping system handles address elements, and Noon documents its current UAE-facing address workflow.

Amazon.ae is different. A public buyer-checkout rule proving that one specific placeholder always works could not be verified. That means a claim such as “Amazon UAE always accepts 00000” should not be presented as established fact.

What Should You Do If a ZIP or Postal Code Field Is Required?

If a courier or marketplace form refuses to continue without a ZIP or postal code, do not begin by entering a random number.

1. Confirm the Destination Country

Make sure the selected country is United Arab Emirates.

International systems can change their address requirements after the destination country is selected.

2. Enter the Real Address Details

Complete the genuine destination information first, including the relevant:

  • recipient;
  • property;
  • unit;
  • area or community;
  • city or emirate;
  • mobile number.

3. Recheck the Postal-Code Field

After the UAE destination details are entered, see whether the field:

  • becomes optional;
  • accepts a blank value;
  • changes validation;
  • remains mandatory.

4. Follow the Rule of the Specific Service

Do not assume that DHL, FedEx, Aramex, Noon, and Amazon use the same workaround.

Where first-party guidance exists, follow that carrier’s UAE-specific or non-postal-country rule.

5. Use a Placeholder Only Where Supported

A placeholder can sometimes satisfy a technical form requirement, but it is not automatically a real postcode.

Do not assume that any of these values works universally:

  • 00000
  • 00001
  • 99999
  • 00971
  • a P.O. Box number

A value accepted by one service does not become a general UAE postal code.

If the form belongs to a bank, visa portal, government website, or another non-courier service, use the guide to what to enter when a UAE form asks for a postal code.

Courier-Specific Address Rules for the UAE

The major couriers document non-postal destinations differently. Their rules should therefore be considered individually.

DHL Address Requirements for the UAE

DHL provides the clearest UAE-specific evidence.

Its April 2026 MyDHL API Reference Data Guide contains a section titled Country With No Postal Code, where AE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES is explicitly listed.

This means a global DHL interface displaying a Postal Code field should not be interpreted as evidence that the UAE property has a conventional postcode.

For a DHL shipment, provide the real recipient and destination information required by the shipping flow and follow the validation shown for the UAE.

Do not assume that DHL universally requires:

  • 00000;
  • a Makani number;
  • a P.O. Box.

Those should only be treated as requirements where the current DHL process specifically requests them.

FedEx Address Requirements for the UAE

FedEx distinguishes between postal-aware and non-postal-aware countries.

Its Postal Code Validation documentation says non-postal-aware countries do not mandate postal codes and that city or state information can be enough when shipping to a country without one. FedEx also states that if validation fails for a country that does not use ZIP codes, 00000 can be tried as a replacement value.

That makes 00000 a technical fallback, not an official UAE postal code.

It also does not establish that every FedEx UAE shipment requires the same value.

For a UAE destination, enter the real address information first. If the FedEx system then produces a postcode-validation problem, use the guidance that applies to that particular shipment flow.

Aramex Address Requirements for the UAE

Aramex’s documented shipping-data model treats postcode according to the destination rather than making it universally mandatory.

Its Shipping Services API specifies:

  • Address Line 1 as mandatory and suitable for information such as building number, block, or street name;
  • City as conditional and required when postcode is not provided;
  • Post Code as conditional and required where the relevant country and city have one;
  • Country Code as mandatory.

The same documentation lists recipient contact fields including person name, phone number, and cell phone within its contact structure.

This is useful evidence about Aramex’s shipping-data model, but it does not mean every consumer-facing Aramex page must display the same fields in exactly the same layout.

For a UAE shipment, provide the genuine physical destination information and follow the current validation presented by the Aramex service being used.

Marketplace Delivery Addresses in the UAE

Marketplace address creation is different from preparing an international courier shipment. Platforms such as Noon and Amazon.ae can use their own saved-address, map, and checkout systems.

Noon Delivery Address Requirements

Noon’s current documented workflow begins with the delivery location on a map.

When adding a new address, Noon instructs users to choose the location on the map, confirm it, and then enter required details such as the full address, mobile number, name, and address label.

For a reliable Noon address:

  • place the map location on the correct property;
  • make sure the written address matches it;
  • include the apartment, office, or unit where needed;
  • provide the correct recipient name;
  • use a reachable mobile number.

Current public Noon instructions do not establish a specific UAE postcode placeholder as part of that documented workflow.

If the live interface presents an additional field, follow the requirement shown there.

Amazon.ae Address Requirements

Amazon.ae should be handled more cautiously.

Current publicly accessible buyer guidance reviewed for this article does not establish one universal UAE postcode-placeholder rule. Public Amazon.ae material does confirm that Amazon works with saved physical address information in other account and shipping contexts, but that does not prove how the current consumer checkout postcode field behaves for every UAE delivery.

For a current Amazon.ae delivery address:

  • select the UAE as the destination;
  • enter the genuine physical address;
  • include the correct building and unit information;
  • provide a reachable phone number;
  • follow the validation shown in the live address or checkout interface.

Evidence status: A live consumer-checkout test is still required before claiming that one placeholder always works on Amazon.ae.

This is preferable to repeating unsupported third-party claims.

How P.O. Box, Makani and Map Pins Fit Into Courier Delivery

These address elements can support a UAE delivery, but each performs a different function.

P.O. Box vs Door-to-Door Courier Address

A P.O. Box identifies a postal mailbox.

It should not automatically replace the physical destination required for a door-to-door courier delivery or be treated as a substitute postal code.

If you need postal-mailbox information, see the Emirates Post P.O. Box guide.

Makani Number

A Makani number identifies a precise building entrance or geographic location where the Makani system applies.

For courier delivery, it can improve location precision, particularly where a property has several access points.

However, current evidence does not support treating Makani as a universal requirement for DHL, FedEx, Aramex, Noon, or Amazon.ae.

For coverage and lookup instructions, see how to find your Makani number.

Map Pin or Shared Location

A map pin communicates the geographic position of the destination.

It can be useful when:

  • a development contains several buildings;
  • property names are similar;
  • an entrance is difficult to describe;
  • the written address leaves location ambiguity.

Noon is a documented example of this approach because its current address workflow begins with location selection on a map.

A map pin still does not replace details such as the building, unit, recipient, and contact number.

An individual driver asking for a WhatsApp location should also be treated as a practical delivery interaction rather than proof that every UAE courier officially requires location sharing.

What Happens If Your UAE Courier Address Is Wrong or Incomplete?

A form can accept an address even when the physical destination is still difficult to identify.

Problems can result from:

  • missing apartment, office, or unit number;
  • incorrect building or villa;
  • wrong city or emirate;
  • inaccurate map position;
  • incomplete recipient information;
  • unreachable phone number;
  • conflicting written and location details.

Depending on the courier and shipment, this can lead to clarification requests, delivery delays, address correction, or unsuccessful delivery attempts.

FedEx provides a concrete example of the operational cost of inaccurate addressing. Its current UAE rate documentation states that if a recipient address is incomplete or incorrect, FedEx may attempt to find the correct address and complete delivery, with an AED 50 address-correction surcharge per shipment in the current published tariff.

That is a FedEx-specific example, not a universal UAE courier fee.

Final Address Check Before You Submit

Before confirming the address, verify:

  • Recipient: correct person or business.
  • Property: correct building, villa, or premises.
  • Unit: apartment, office, shop, or floor included where needed.
  • Location: correct area, city, and emirate.
  • Contact: mobile number is accurate and reachable.
  • Map data: points to the correct property where supported.
  • Postal field: follows the actual rule of the service being used.

The goal is not only to make the form accept the address. The address must also be useful to the courier completing the delivery.

UAE Courier Address FAQs

These FAQs answer common service-specific questions about ZIP fields and UAE delivery addresses. Where current platform behavior is not publicly verified, the answer stays within the available evidence.

What ZIP Code Should I Use for DHL in the UAE?

DHL currently lists the United Arab Emirates as a country with no postal code. If a DHL interface still displays a postcode field, follow the validation provided for that UAE shipment rather than treating a random value as an official postcode.

Can I Use 00000 for FedEx UAE?

FedEx documents 00000 as a possible fallback when postcode validation fails for a country that does not use ZIP codes. It is a technical workaround, not an official UAE postal code or a universal FedEx requirement.

Does Aramex Require a Postal Code in the UAE?

Aramex’s documented shipping model makes postcode conditional according to whether the destination country and city use one. Provide the real physical destination information and follow the current Aramex validation for the shipment.

Does Noon Need a UAE Postal Code?

Noon’s current public address guidance focuses on map location, full address, mobile number, recipient name, and address label. It does not establish a specific required UAE postcode placeholder.

Does Amazon UAE Accept 00000?

A universal Amazon.ae rule stating that 00000 always works could not be verified from current public first-party buyer documentation. Follow the live Amazon.ae address validation instead of relying on an unsupported third-party claim.

Bottom Line

For UAE courier delivery, provide accurate physical address, unit, location, recipient, and contact information that allows the shipment to reach the correct destination.

If a ZIP or postal-code field appears, follow the rule of the specific courier or marketplace rather than assuming that a placeholder is an official UAE postcode.
