Most moving companies in Abu Dhabi look the same from the outside. Most homepages promise careful packing and no hidden fees. The real differences sit in the terms: when you pay, what happens if you cancel and how much a mover pays if something breaks.
This guide ranks nine movers and packers in Abu Dhabi by what they prove in public. It compares published prices, written contracts and confirmed Abu Dhabi offices, using each company’s own website. Nobody from Khaleej Desk booked a move with any of them.
Below you’ll find a side-by-side table, the ranked list, plain answers on costs, deposits and permits, and a message you can send every mover before you book.
At a glance:
Most moving companies in Abu Dhabi won’t show a price until you call. So this table compares what you can check before you pick up the phone. It shows published rates, how you pay, how much damage the mover accepts and who handles the building permit.
| Company | Published price | Payment | Damage cover | Permit help | Best for |
| Delight International Movers | Quote within 4 hours | On delivery | AED 250 per item | You get it | Terms in writing |
| Expert Movers and Packers | Studio from AED 700 | 100% upfront | 70% of the quote | You apply | Apartments on a budget |
| GI Movers | Quote only | Refundable deposit | Set in your quote | Missing permit can cost the deposit | Abu Dhabi to Dubai |
| Crown Relocations | Quote only | Not listed | Optional full cover | Handles NOCs | Villas, full setup |
| Allied | Quote only | Not listed | Optional plans | Helps | Permit support |
| Discount Movers | Studio 899 AED | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Price checking |
| AGS Movers Abu Dhabi | Quote only | Not listed | Optional insurance | Parking permits | Moves to Europe |
| Writer Relocations | Quote only | Not listed | Optional insurance | Not listed | Storage between leases |
| Affordable Movers | Quote only | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed | Crew and truck only |
How to read this table. “Not listed” means we couldn’t find it on the company’s own website. It doesn’t mean the term doesn’t exist, so ask for it in writing. “Damage cover” is the most a mover agrees to pay if it breaks something. It isn’t insurance. “Optional” cover costs extra and has to be added before moving day. Neither published price says whether it includes 5% VAT.
This guide is based on public information only. Nobody from Khaleej Desk booked, called or used any of these companies. Every fact comes from a company’s own website, checked in October 2026.
The search started with more than 30 movers and packers in Abu Dhabi, pulled from five ranking lists and more than 20 searches. Those lists supplied names only.
Thirteen companies passed a first check for an Abu Dhabi office or a dedicated Abu Dhabi service page. Two of them couldn’t be confirmed on their own websites, which left 11 for detailed research. Nine made the final list.
Rank reflects how much each company proves in public, not how big its brand is. The ranking weighed five things:
Contradictions between a company’s own pages don’t remove it from the list. They appear as the honest limit in its entry.
Depth of evidence also sets the order at the bottom. Affordable Movers made the cut on its Abu Dhabi address and track record, but its site gives the least to verify, so it ranks ninth. Ratings will be added once each score is checked by hand.
No company paid to appear on this list.
Quick facts:
You don’t pay Delight International Movers until your things arrive. Its UAE terms ask for cash or cheque on delivery. Both other movers on this list that publish payment terms want money first.
The company started in 1989 and still runs from Abu Dhabi. It handles apartment, villa and office moves inside the city. It also ships abroad, with FIDI FAIM Plus accreditation behind that work.
Read the fine print before you pack anything yourself. Delight won’t pay for damage to goods it didn’t both pack and unpack. A box you taped shut is your risk.
The real gap sits between its homepage and its contract. The homepage calls Delight a fully insured mover. The terms cap liability at AED 250 per item and leave insurance out of the quote. Flat-pack assembly is out too unless agreed in writing. Ask for both on the quote itself.
Quick facts:
A studio move with Expert Movers and Packers starts at AED 700, based on its own cost guide. A one-bedroom runs AED 1,200 to 1,800. Only one other finalist puts real numbers in public.
The flat fee folds in costs you’d otherwise have to ask about. Fuel, parking, DARB tolls in Abu Dhabi and Salik in Dubai all sit inside the price. It’s also the only finalist whose site shows its Abu Dhabi licence number.
Its terms tell a stricter story than its homepage. You pay 100% of the quote to book, and none of it comes back. Liability stops at 70% of the quoted price. The homepage promises unpacking, but the terms leave it out unless the quote lists it.
So get your move-out permit approved before you book. With no refund on the table, a permit delay puts the whole payment at risk.
Quick facts:
A family moving from Abu Dhabi to Dubai gets an office at each end with GI Movers. Its Abu Dhabi base sits in Mussafah M-44. A second warehouse runs in Dubai Investment Park. Its storage stays open seven days a week, which helps when a Dubai handover runs late.
The refund policy is the most detailed in this guide. Cancel more than 72 hours out and the deposit comes back in full. Between 24 and 72 hours, up to a quarter of it goes. Inside 24 hours, it may all go. Damage has to be reported in writing within 7 days.
One clause deserves a second read. If the crew arrives and your building permit is missing, the deposit can be kept. Confirm the permit before moving day.
The gaps are real. GI publishes no prices and no deposit amount. Its Terms page returns an error, so liability limits can’t be checked. Only three reviews appear on its own site.
Quick facts:
Crown Relocations writes more into its standard Abu Dhabi package than any other finalist. Packing, unpacking and a full inventory are in. Beds, wardrobes and tables get reassembled. Crown also includes TV mounting and basic ceiling lights, a step it calls unique to its standard tier.
Its Abu Dhabi page names the buildings its crews know, from Gate Towers on Reem Island to Saadiyat Beach Villas. It also says it handles developer NOCs from the likes of Aldar. Lady packers are available on request.
Surveys cost nothing, in person or by video. The catch is timing. Quotes take 48 to 72 hours, and surveys run only on weekdays during office hours. Book the survey a week before you need the price.
Price and contract terms stay hidden. Crown lists no rates, deposit or cancellation rules online. Full replacement cover exists, but you have to add it. Two Crown pages also give different Abu Dhabi office addresses.
Quick facts:
Allied starts with the building, not the boxes. It notes that most UAE towers and communities need a move permit from building management. Allied says its team can help with that paperwork as part of the job.
Its FAQ also covers Friday moves. Most communities block moves on Fridays and public holidays. Lift access and management offices often close those days. Allied steers clients toward a Saturday or weekday slot instead.
Cover is optional but structured. The Gold plan protects the whole shipment as a lump sum. The Standard plan prices cover item by item. Claims go to Allied’s own team.
Local moves usually book within one to two weeks.
The Abu Dhabi office keeps short hours, 9 AM to 5 PM. No prices, deposit rules or liability limits appear on its site. The main sales number on its pages is a Dubai line. Call the Abu Dhabi office directly for a local survey.
Quick facts:
Discount Movers runs from Deira in Dubai and serves Abu Dhabi through a branch on Hazza Bin Zayed Street. What sets it apart is a price list anyone can read.
A studio move inside Abu Dhabi costs 899 AED. One-bedroom apartments run 1,199 AED. The top of the list is a four-bedroom villa at 3,099 AED. Surveys are free.
The table also splits prices by destination. A studio moving outside Abu Dhabi costs 1,199 AED, so the cross-emirate premium is 300 AED. For a four-bedroom villa the gap reaches 900 AED. You can budget a move to another emirate before calling anyone.
Prices are where the proof stops. The site shows no licence number, deposit rules or damage terms. Its map embed carries a different business name, SBM Furniture Movers. A second package list, from AED 900 to AED 2,000, sits beside the table with no link between the two. Get the size-based price confirmed in writing.
Quick facts:
AGS opened its Abu Dhabi branch in 2012. It belongs to the AGS group, which lists more than 140 locations worldwide.
The branch is honest about its size. It handles around 500 local and international moves a year with 3 trucks. That’s a small fleet behind a big brand name.
France, the UK and Germany are its most popular destinations. Staff speak English, French and Hindi. That suits a family shipping a household to Europe.
The crew surveys both homes and arranges parking permits. Insurance options are offered, and storage is available in Abu Dhabi.
With three trucks, dates go quickly. AGS itself advises booking four to six weeks ahead. Plan around that window.
The reviews tell an older story. Its page shows 4.1 stars from 35 Google reviews, but the featured ones are four to five years old. No prices or contract terms appear on the branch page.
Quick facts
Some moves stall in the middle. The old lease ends before the new keys arrive. Writer Relocations sells a fix for that gap.
It says it owns climate-controlled warehouses in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Storage runs month to month. Extensions carry no penalty, so a late handover won’t lock you into a long contract. The facilities are Civil Defence approved and under 24/7 CCTV.
Surveys happen in person or by video. The crew packs, inventories and labels each box, then unpacks and places items room by room.
Local moving isn’t its main story, though. Its UAE FAQ spends most of its space on sea freight, visas and port disruption. No Abu Dhabi street address appears on the pages we checked. Rates, deposit rules and liability limits are missing too. Insurance is offered, but as an extra. Ask which warehouse will hold your things, and get the monthly rate in writing.
Quick facts:
Booking Affordable Movers comes down to one mobile number and a short web form. There’s no online price list and no customer portal. You call, describe the move and get a quote.
The useful part is the menu. Some customers book full packing. Others want only extra hands and a covered truck, and the company offers that too. If you can pack your own boxes, skipping the packing crew can trim the bill.
It has worked from Khalifa City since 2009. Short-term storage and office moves are on offer as well.
The website looks frozen in time. Its homepage still says “more than 11 years” beside a 2009 start date, which dates the copy to around 2020. It lists no prices, licence number, deposit rules or damage terms. Review links point to Trustpilot and Google, but the scores weren’t confirmed for this guide.
Before you pack yourself, ask who pays if a box you sealed arrives broken.
Only two of the nine finalists publish prices. Everyone else quotes after a survey. So this section sets those two price lists beside the estimates two big UAE listing sites publish for house shifting in Abu Dhabi.
What drives a quote is fairly consistent. Allied says local moves are priced on home size, access and the services you add. ServiceMarket ties cost to the volume of your belongings.
| Home size | Discount Movers (published) | Expert Movers (own guide) | ServiceMarket (estimate) | Property Finder (estimate) |
| Studio | 899 | 700 to 1,200 | 1,000 to 1,200 | Not listed |
| 1-bedroom apartment | 1,199 | 1,200 to 1,800 | 1,200 to 1,400 | 950 to 1,350 |
| 2-bedroom apartment | 1,699 | 1,500 to 3,000 | 1,800 to 2,000 | 1,400 to 1,650 |
| 3-bedroom apartment | 2,199 | 1,500 to 3,000 | Not listed | 1,800 to 2,000 |
| 4-bedroom apartment | 2,999 | Not listed | Not listed | 2,500 to 3,500 |
| 3-bedroom villa | 2,599 | 3,000 to 6,000 | 4,000 to 5,000 | Not listed |
| 4-bedroom villa | 3,099 | 3,000 to 6,000 | 5,000 to 6,000 | Not listed |
All prices in AED for moves within Abu Dhabi. Expert Movers groups sizes, so one range covers two to three bedrooms and another covers three to five bedroom villas. ServiceMarket’s apartment figures are its Standard tier. Its villa figures come from a separate villa cost guide.
Discount Movers sits at or below most estimates for apartments. The biggest gap shows up in villas. Its four-bedroom villa price of 3,099 AED is well below ServiceMarket’s 5,000 to 6,000 AED estimate.
Treat the market estimates with care. Neither listing site explains where its numbers come from. They also disagree. Property Finder puts a two-bedroom at AED 1,400 to 1,650, while ServiceMarket’s standard range is AED 1,800 to 2,000.
Moving to another emirate costs more because the job takes longer driver hours, more fuel and road tolls. Discount Movers shows the premium line by line. It adds 300 AED for a studio, 200 AED for a one-bedroom and 900 AED for a four-bedroom villa. The jump peaks at 1,100 AED for a four-bedroom apartment.
Expert Movers handles it differently. Its terms add a fixed inter-emirate charge set in each quote. Its homepage says DARB and Salik tolls already sit inside the flat fee.
Jeebly, a UAE logistics firm, estimates that a Dubai to Abu Dhabi leg typically adds AED 500 to 1,500 in transport costs alone. If you’re comparing Abu Dhabi to Dubai movers, ask for that surcharge as its own line on the quote.
The first number on a quote isn’t always the final one. Expert Movers’ terms add charges for extra items, stair carries and work outside 8 AM to 6 PM. Delight’s terms allow a price rise for higher floors, a truck parked more than 20 meters from the door and parking fees.
Some jobs are priced on top. Expert’s own cost guide lists AC removal, curtain installation and TV wall-mount dismantling as separate charges.
Then there’s the payout. Expert’s liability cap is a share of the quoted price, so a lower quote also lowers what you can recover. The next section puts numbers on it.
Truck-and-labor deals follow the same rule. Discount Movers rents vehicles from small pickups to 3-ton trucks, so ask whether packing and assembly are part of the price.
When you shop for cheap movers in Abu Dhabi, compare what each quote leaves out, not just the total. Check the trade licence too. ServiceMarket suggests confirming a mover is registered with Abu Dhabi’s economic department before you book.
The next section shows what each mover’s contract says about deposits, cancellations and damage.
Only three finalists publish their payment and cancellation terms online. Their rules barely overlap. Read this before you pay anyone.
| Mover | When you pay | Free cancellation | Late cancellation |
| GI Movers | Deposit at booking | More than 72 hours before the move | Up to 25% of the deposit at 24 to 72 hours. Deposit may be lost inside 24 hours |
| Expert Movers | 100% at booking | Unclear. Its terms conflict | AED 500 fee inside 48 hours |
| Delight | Cash or cheque on delivery | More than 7 days before the move | 50% of the charge inside 3 days |
Delight carries the least risk for you. Nothing leaves your account until your things arrive. Its terms skip the 3 to 7 day window, so get that gap covered in writing.
GI sits in the middle. Its tiers are clear, and approved refunds are processed within 7 working days, though banks can take up to 30 more. Boxes already delivered are charged at cost unless you return them unused.
Expert carries the most risk. Its terms call the full payment non-refundable, yet also list a AED 500 late-cancellation fee. Both can’t apply as written. Ask Expert to state its real cancellation rule on your quote.
A liability cap is the most a mover pays if it damages your things. It isn’t insurance.
Delight pays up to AED 250 per item. Say a AED 3,000 sofa arrives broken. The most you get back is AED 250.
Expert pays up to 70% of the quoted price across the whole move. On a AED 3,000 villa quote, that’s AED 2,100 at most. Its optional limited cover tops out at AED 1,500.
GI says it compensates “within the limits set out in your quotation.” Its terms page is down, so read the quote closely.
Crown, Allied, AGS and Writer all sell optional transit cover. Crown’s CrownCare pays full replacement cost. Allied offers a lump-sum plan or an itemized one. If anything in your home is worth more than the cap, buy cover before moving day.
All three published contracts give a 7-day window for written complaints. Delight also wants damage noted on delivery day. Photograph fragile items before packing starts.
Furniture movers in Abu Dhabi differ most on assembly and appliances. Delight excludes flat-pack assembly and appliance disconnection unless agreed in writing. Expert leaves out unpacking, handyman work and insurance unless the quote names them.
The global firms put more inside the base price. Crown’s standard package covers assembly, TV mounting and basic ceiling lights. Allied says it dismantles flat-pack furniture and coordinates appliance disconnection with building maintenance.
One more clause matters. Delight reserves the right to subcontract. Expert may bring in third-party crews when it’s fully booked. Ask who will actually show up.
Permits are the last piece, and they decide whether your move starts on time.
Most UAE towers and gated communities want a move permit from building management before a truck shows up. Developers such as Aldar may also require a no-objection certificate, or NOC. Crown warns that breaking building rules on lifts, parking or wall protection can bring a fine or a cut from your security deposit.
The finalists split into two camps. Crown says it handles developer NOCs and building paperwork. Allied says it can help with move-in and move-out permits as part of the job. AGS surveys both homes and arranges parking permits.
Expert, Delight and GI leave the permit with you. Expert asks you to apply while its crew books the service lift and loading bay. Delight’s terms make all permits your job. GI can keep your deposit if the permit is missing on moving day.
Apply as soon as your moving date is fixed. Every tower sets its own requirements, so ask building management for its exact list. Moving in from Dubai? Abu Dhabi runs its own tenancy registration, called Tawtheeq. [INTERNAL LINK: Tawtheeq or tenancy guide]
Allied’s FAQ notes that most UAE communities restrict moves on Fridays and public holidays. Management offices often close, so permits and lift access aren’t available. A Saturday or weekday slot usually works better.
Saturday comes with its own catch. ServiceMarket calls it the most popular moving day. Book it early or pick a weekday.
Lead times depend on the mover and the size of your home. For an apartment, ServiceMarket advises at least 10 days. Villas need two to three weeks, so the mover can survey first.
Allied says local moves usually book within one to two weeks, but peak summer months and Eid fill up fast. AGS, running only three trucks, recommends four to six weeks.
Two weeks is a safe floor for an apartment. Give a villa a month.
The next section matches each mover to the kind of move you’re planning.
No single company wins every job. Here’s how the nine house movers in Abu Dhabi on this list match the moves people actually make.
Crown fits big homes best on paper. Among villa movers in Abu Dhabi, Delight is the pick if you’d rather pay on delivery. Buy extra cover with either one.
Discount Movers lists a studio move inside Abu Dhabi at 899 AED, so you know the price before calling. Expert Movers starts at AED 700 by its own guide, with tolls and fuel included, it says. Self-packers can also ask Affordable Movers for just a crew and a covered truck.
GI Movers keeps offices in Mussafah and Dubai Investment Park, so both ends have local staff. Discount publishes its cross-emirate premium upfront. Whichever you choose, get the surcharge itemized.
International movers in Abu Dhabi are where the global firms earn their place. AGS ships most often to France, the UK and Germany, and its staff speak French and Hindi. Delight holds FIDI FAIM Plus accreditation and says it has moved families to more than 170 countries. Writer can air-freight your essentials and send the rest by sea.
Check exclusions first. Expert’s terms refuse jewelry, art, antiques and small electronics outright. For high-value pieces, Crown’s full replacement cover or Allied’s Gold plan makes more sense. Writer also advertises a dedicated valuables vault in storage.
When the new keys come late, you need storage in Abu Dhabi that bends. Writer extends month to month with no penalty. GI’s units open seven days a week. Crown offers POD storage and store-by-the-box.
Offices aren’t this guide’s focus, but two finalists cover them well on paper. Among office movers in Abu Dhabi, Expert runs office jobs after hours or on weekends to cut downtime. Delight adds IT and data center relocation.
At the finalists that mention it, yes. Crown’s surveys are free in person or by video, and Discount Movers offers a free survey too. Writer also surveys in person or virtually. Expert confirms its price by video call, or a home visit for larger homes.
Not by default at every company. Delight excludes appliance disconnection unless you agree it in writing. Allied coordinates disconnection with your building’s maintenance team. Expert’s cost guide lists AC removal and reinstallation as a separate charge.
Plan to carry valuables and paperwork yourself. Expert refuses jewelry, cash, passports and other personal documents. Delight also refuses hazardous items like gas bottles and paint. Plants, pets and frozen food stay off its trucks too.
You can, but check what it does to your cover. Affordable Movers will supply just a crew and a covered truck for self-packers. Delight, on the other hand, won’t pay for damage to anything it didn’t both pack and unpack. Ask about liability before you seal a single box.
Write it down fast. GI wants damage reported in writing within 7 days and replies within 14 working days. Delight asks for damage to be noted at delivery, then confirmed in writing within 7 days. Take photos before the crew leaves.
Most finalists do. Writer and Delight both run month-to-month storage, and Writer charges no penalty for extending. GI’s units are open seven days a week. [INTERNAL LINK: storage companies list]
Ask for the licence number in writing. Expert prints its Abu Dhabi DED licence on its website, which makes it easy to verify. Licensed packers and movers in Abu Dhabi should share theirs on request. ServiceMarket suggests confirming registration with Abu Dhabi’s economic department before you pay.
Most moving companies in Abu Dhabi sound alike until you read their terms. Here’s where each budget should start.
On a tight budget: Expert Movers and Packers. It publishes prices from AED 700 for a studio and shows its Abu Dhabi licence number. Its site says tolls and fuel sit inside the flat fee. Just know the full payment is due at booking.
In the middle: Delight International Movers. It publishes a full contract, and you pay only when your things arrive. Add cover if anything you own is worth more than AED 250.
For a full-service villa move: Crown Relocations. Its standard package includes assembly, TV mounting and basic lights, plus help with developer NOCs. Full replacement cover is available as an extra.
For a move abroad: AGS Movers Abu Dhabi. It ships most often to Europe and asks for four to six weeks’ notice.
Before you pay anyone, get five answers in writing. Copy this, fill in the brackets and send it to two or three movers. Written replies are easier to compare than phone calls.
Hello. I’m moving a [size] home from [area] to [area] around [date]. I need [full packing, or a crew and truck only], plus [assembly, appliance disconnection or other extras]. Please send a written quote that confirms: the total price and whether it includes VAT, the deposit and when it’s due, your cancellation rules, your liability limit, and who applies for the building permit.
A mover that won’t answer all five in writing has told you something too.
